As you know soon there will be elections of the President of the International Olympic Committee – one the most important events in the global sport.
I am sure that all our colleagues who will participate in the election enjoy great authority in the sporting world and have our confidence to hold such a responsible post.
In my turn I have also decided to nominate myself to the position of the IOC President.
I’m sure that my sports achievements, long-term experience of participating in the international Olympic movement as well as administrative work in the capacity of the people’s deputy of my country, the chairman of the State Committee of Youth and Sport and the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine give me huge amount of skills and knowledge that the candidate to the post of the President of one of the principal sport organizations in the world must have.
I think that in view of development of modern technologies and life swiftness in general, the international Olympic movement needs new approaches in its promotion as a mode of life in the whole modern world.
One of my main tasks at such a responsible post would be the popularization of the Olympic Games and kinds of sports among youth. Of course, it is possible only with the involvement of huge experience of so called elders of the Olympic movement among the acting members of IOC and those who has taken a well-deserved rest.
Besides that, participation of the most famous people in the world that take deals in another spheres but enjoy huge authority in the global community, in such an original elders' forum can favour the active motivation of youth to go in for sports.
I also consider the active participation of developing countries in the organization of the Olympic Games or other competitions as one of the most important issues. I mean that holding of summer or winter Olympiads wouldn’t be an expensive treat for selected rich countries of Europe or Asia, but other less developed countries could realize the importance of their participation in the development of the Olympic movement in the world.
